Infrastructure Modernization & Migration
- Executed zero-downtime migration of InfluxDB Enterprise clusters from Amazon Linux 1 to AL2, building custom AMI images with all required tooling for repeatable, consistent deployments
- Currently leading RHEL 9 migration from Amazon Linux 2 across GovCloud infrastructure ahead of AL2 end-of-life
- Executed database-side migration from New Relic to internal monitoring tooling, coordinating with the upstream platform team across multiple MuleSoft database teams
- Successfully proof-of-concepted RDS transfer workflows for planned infrastructure consolidation
- Provide Terraform and infrastructure advisory support for ongoing Hyperforce data migrations
GovCloud Operations & Compliance
- Designed and implemented patching strategy for DBEng-owned systems in GovCloud, including full functional reboot patching workflows and ownership of patching operations across the team's production instances
- Leading automated patching initiative via dual approach — AWS Systems Manager and a Python-based yum Lambda solution — navigating the SCRF approval process and evidence-gathering requirements while maintaining a fallback path
- Built Python tooling to automatically rotate AWS IAM access keys for legacy monitoring infrastructure, eliminating manual credential management
- Manage certificate rotation and compliance operations for all DBEng-owned systems in GovCloud, ensuring adherence to federal security requirements
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage team workflow processes — initially as Scrum Lead overseeing the dashboard, backlog grooming, sprint delivery, and ticket creation; transitioned team to Kanban
- Onboarded and mentored new team members following organizational restructuring, providing technical guidance on GovCloud requirements and operational best practices
- Stepped into expanded leadership role during team transitions, providing management meeting coverage and contributing to strategic work direction and decision-making
- Conduct technical interviews for database engineering candidates
Earlier Contributions (SRE)
- Managed production-impacting availability and security incidents as a Site Reliability Engineer; fleet management using Ansible, Chef, Illumio, and Terraform
- Created Python-based internal tools to streamline new user onboarding, threat mitigation, and automatic remediation of recurrent alerts
- Expanded Python-based database tooling to support BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) encryption on RDS instances
- Improved security and compliance posture by disabling outdated TLS versions, stabilizing IDS (Zeek), and managing Illumio microsegmentation rules and connectivity troubleshooting
- Identified AWS cost-to-serve improvements yielding over $2 million in annual savings
